Around the Bay: Community Improvements & Local Updates
There’s always something happening around Runaway Bay! From new additions to our parks and gardens to ongoing community projects, here’s a look at what’s been happening around town and how you can get involved!
Monarchs Have Found Their Way to Runaway Bay!

The butterfly garden at Eternal Oaks Cemetery is officially registered as a Monarch Waystation!
The new sign has been installed, and several monarch butterflies have already been spotted enjoying the garden. Apparently, they can read! 😉
This beautiful space provides a welcoming habitat for monarchs while adding a little more color and beauty to our community.
If you haven’t seen it yet, stop by and take a look!
City Park Gets a New Sign!

Our Parks & Recreation team has been hard at work, and the new City Park sign is officially up!
A big thank you to the gentlemen who dedicated their time and effort to getting it installed. It’s another nice improvement to a space our residents and families enjoy.
Looking good, gentlemen! And looking good, Runaway Bay! 💙
Calling All Green Thumbs! Let’s Grow Something Together!

Speaking of making our community a little more beautiful, here’s an opportunity for residents to roll up their sleeves and get involved!
Local resident Susan Elsas is helping organize a community gardening group, and she’s looking for volunteers who would like to participate!
Whether you’re an experienced gardener, have a green thumb, or just enjoy spending time outdoors and meeting your neighbors, you’re welcome to come join the conversation.
Community Gardening Meeting
Saturday, October 24 | 10:00 AM
Location: Raised garden beds near the pool at City Park
This first gathering will be an opportunity to meet, share ideas, and discuss getting a volunteer gardening group started. You don’t have to be a gardening expert to make a difference. Sometimes all it takes is a few neighbors willing to pitch in! 💚
Highway 380 Cleanup & Wildflower Update
The Greater Runaway Bay Alliance (GRBA) continues working with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to coordinate the final Highway 380 trash cleanup and wildflower seeding project for 2026.
The project was approved earlier this spring, but the cleanup and seeding remain on hold pending further coordination with TxDOT. There is some good news! According to GRBA’s latest update, TxDOT has decided to add additional wildflower seeds to the planned bluebonnet seeding. GRBA continues following up with TxDOT in hopes of getting the project completed before winter. An official date has not yet been announced.
💙 Our Community, Our Home
From creating beautiful spaces for butterflies to improving our parks and organizing neighbors who want to lend a helping hand, it’s the people behind these efforts who make Runaway Bay special.
And there’s always room for more helping hands!
Whether you have a little time, a special skill, or simply a desire to get involved, opportunities like Parks and Rec, the Cemetery Board, GRBA or the new gardening group are a great place to start.
A big thank you to everyone who continues putting their time, energy, and heart into making Runaway Bay a wonderful place to call home.
Small town. Big hearts. That’s Runaway Bay! 💙
